I think grief is universal. Not in the way that everybody experiences it, but more in a sense of, when you grieve a person you also grieve everybody else you’ve lost. In every way. At my step grandpa’s funeral I found myself shedding tears for a relationship that didn’t last. Whenever I have a really good cry, I also cry about my best friend from elementary school who died very suddenly of leukemia. Loss is a hard feeling to take, but the feeling is not exclusive for the situation.

Whenever I grieve one person, I grieve everybody.
